Lisa Whittington

Lisa Whittington is best known for her painting of Emmett Till, “How She Sent Him and How She Got Him Back.” Lisa is an abstract expressionist and uses a variety of mediums to tell stories and document the history and the vibe of African American people. Lisa Whittington’s major influences are Van Gogh, Basquiat, Keith Haring, Picasso, Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence. Lisa is also a playwright and a graphic designer and a member of the Black Artists and Designers Guild. She is also a scholar and graduated with her Doctorate in art education from the University of Georgia.
