A lot of my artwork that I’ve done throughout the pandemic was inspired by the ever-changing events around me. For this painting in particular, Women Outside, I was inspired by the school teachers that have had to grapple with the responsibility of serving as essential workers in providing education to our children, while also having to come to terms with the challenges that come with our new norm. I love capturing the diversity in the various cultures that i have always been surrounded by throughout my life through my folk art, which many people seem to connect with.
