This painting takes me back to simpler times and features a favorite view of Plum Island. The island is named for wild beach plum shrubs that grow on its dunes. It’s a barrier island located off the Northeast coast of Massachusetts.

My mother in law lives on the basin side of the island, and the sun sets right on the marsh a few feet from her house. It was just one of those hot, hazy summer evenings. I was naturally drawn to the magical shimmer on the water as the sun set.

Oh, take me back to that summer haze!
