The stay at home order for me translated into painting even more than before. I've always been quite motivated to paint, but somehow the lack of in-person contact with friends and family served to concentrate my efforts even more. I've done a lot of plein air painting in all seasons so painting from travel photos hasn't been a priority for me. While thinking about the places I've traveled to and painted in I had the chance to participate in a Zoom plein air event and the photo reference was somewhere in Umbria. I've spent a fair amount of time in Umbria so the photo spoke to me. Umbria is the breadbasket of Italy where literally tons of food is grown. This one allowed me to travel virtually while not traveling at all!
