As an artist/introvert I naturally spend the majority of my time working alone in my studio, so the isolation of COVID-19 was not so different for me. In a way, it kind of gave permission to do what I normally do without judgment.

The way we interact with others has changed. Everything has become distant and virtual – friendships, family, conversations, touching. It’s easier to live in the present because the future is unknown and looking forward to anything is so uncertain.

In my paintings, I strive to create a visual language that intertwines with emblematic, cipheric imagery. During this challenging time, when virtually our entire society is bound up by a pandemic, I work to create personal, yet relatable, language to fill the voids and empty spaces we’re all experiencing.

“Released: Offerings of Blessings” was created in the early months of the pandemic.
