As the pandemic situation gradually worsened, our annual trip to my home country in Germany and seeing my extended family was destined to be canceled. Looking through my many photos of the lovely towns and villages of Germany, I wanted to be there at least in spirit. I had recently taken an online course by a great fellow urban sketcher and I applied the new technique to this scene. It is full of energy and joy, and colors are applied more by mood and feeling rather than a sense of realism. I hope it evokes some joy in the viewer and that it conveys my feelings and love for this small corner of the world. So far away, yet we all go through the same thing and experience the same loneliness and hope for a cure.
