"One for Sorrow" is a traditional children's nursery rhyme about magpies. According to an old superstition, the number of magpies seen tells if one will have bad or good luck. The poem goes like this: "One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl, Four for a boy, Five for silver, Six for gold, Seven for a story yet to be told."

My artwork has ten magpies, "a story yet to be told", as I feel suspended in a paused state, wondering what and when this virus will come to some sort of conclusion that will allow us to move forward again. My job as a working artist involved traveling across the country to teach, twice per month. COVID took all the wind out of my sails and changed the way I make a living. I'm wondering if we will ever be able to go back to the way we were before.
