Some of the blessings of the current situation are time with family, respite from agendas and schedules, and the opportunity to work on paintings that have been in my head for years.

This painting is one such scene. A few years back I was driving to NYC to the opening of the American Masters Show at the Salmagundi Club with a good friend. We were driving through one of my favorite scenic areas in Central New York as the sun rose and gifted us with a warm yellow infusion over the valley.

I think of the canvas as visual music and attempt to harmonize not only the color relationships, but also the cadence of the shapes and movement/flow of the eye. I love exploring these experiences after the view has had time to settle in my soul and resonate with me.
