After several weeks of solitary in our studios, my artist friend Karen Weiss and I decided we were safe enough to get together to paint. I drove to Sarasota and we painted in her backyard in the afternoon. It was a beautiful, clear spring day in Florida, much like the previous days this time of year, where under normal conditions we would be painting at the beach, downtown, and in the parks. After finishing our work, Karen's husband, Chris, made an enjoyable dinner, where we talked about everything, non-stop, hungry for conversation with someone across the table. After dinner, we set up outside again to paint, knowing that the moon would be appearing around sunset. True to form, and on time, it rose into the evening sky. The last of the sunset light glinted orange on the palms across the water. And then I knew, all was right with the world.
