Isolation: Wilhelmina Bay, Antarctica, April 2020

Newly identified as the Artist In Residence to the One World Polar Team, I was to embark on a Science Expedition to western Antarctica in January 2020. With a year's worth of Antarctic training behind me, I was to accompany marine biological and geological teams, painting in situ, the events of our findings. Never would I have thought that within the span of eight days my trip would vanish before my eyes because of Coronavirus. The isolation of our expedition's location substituted the isolation I now felt at not being able to travel to the white continent.
