From the start of the pandemic, my mother, who is 87 years old and lives in an independent living community, was put into complete lockdown for three months. She was not allowed to leave her apartment. Her meals, packages, etc. were delivered to her. When I would talk to her, my mother’s loneliness broke my heart. People moved to her community for socialization, and now they were completely isolated. I did this drawing to convey the isolation that my mother and the world we are living in were experiencing.
