I've done abstraction for many years, along with more traditional pieces such as landscapes. Grappling with the pandemic this past year, however, I realized my abstract pieces gave me an opportunity to look at much more than the reality that we're all constrained by now. Working with abstraction gives me a sense of "thinking and seeing beyond" my day-to-day life. Some may call this escapism, but I see it more as a chance to think up new possibilities and to grow as an artist.
