Desert Sentinel, March 2020

My wife and I have recently been taking late winter vacations to the southwest, where we like to thaw out from our Alaskan winters. This year the Coronavirus put a halt to a 2020 trip, so I opted to virtually return to one of my favorite desert areas, the area around Death Valley, California. There is a geologically sculptured mountain south of Death Valley Junction, which particularly intrigues me. Every angle from which we view the mountain at any time of day seems inspire a new painting subject. "Desert Sentinel" depicts an abstracted version of that unnamed mountain.
