As an artist, I feel fortunate to be able to work during the pandemic. Though I am painting daily, the rest of my life has changed drastically. No more restaurant meals, a trip to Paris has been cancelled and get-togethers with friends have been put on hold. A weekly trip to the grocery store is a carefully managed event using a face mask and plenty of hand sanitizer. The one bright spot for my wife and me – we get to see our two grandchildren daily. Our daughter is working remotely and needs help keeping the 1-year-old and 4-year-old from joining her client Zoom conversations! Daycare is out, because of the risk involved in passing on the virus to our son-in-law who is immunosuppressed; therefore we get to help out.

Even though the world has been turned upside down, this painting reflects the satisfaction I get at the end of each day relaxing with a good bourbon and reflecting on how fortunate I am to enjoy painting daily and spend time with a loving family. Life is good!
