I so enjoyed spending a quiet hour at this deserted beach last December. It seemed so special because usually it is filled with people but because it was 4 pm on a chilly Wednesday, no one was there. It was just the sound of the waves, the vast ocean, the sand and me. Sunset was imminent and early due to the short days.

Little did I realize that stillness and quiet would be all day and everywhere as the world gradually shut down just a few months later. The pandemic necessitated this action and the activity slowed to a crawl everywhere. I decided to start this painting in April to not only remember that particular day back in December but to represent the moments when we can be reflective in the hushed silence...and create.
