While my state of South Dakota wasn’t locked down as severely as some, I thought of how isolation has been endured by many during the COVID-19 pandemic in correlation to the isolation and loneliness in the old west. Most often, although different circumstances, it is and was dealt with as life carries on. My painting of a lone Sioux plains Indian hunting for small game in the Badlands of Dakotah Territory (now South Dakota) is my example of dealing with isolation along with the need to survive.
