Boundaries #30 and #31, 2021
Acrylic on Canvas
40 x 50 in
“Boundaries” is a series inspired by contemporary cartographers who use maps to represent a physical, mental or emotional territory. Throughout my moves around the world, there has always been a constant boundary holding me in place. This is a space that brings me peace and a sense of belonging. My boundary is my home, my place on Earth. During the lockdown of 2020, my boundaries tightened but their essence and significance expanded. My color palette shifted to monotone grey, my smooth textures turned into rougher patterns, and my structural lines and ambiguous planes grew sharper.
