I'm quite comfortable with solitude, and I enjoy getting out to paint with other artists. In May, while still in lockdown and missing our weekly plein air outings, I looked at my previous photos. Sleeping Bear Dunes up North Michigan is beautiful. The climb up the dunes is too much for me to haul my art equipment to paint there so I took lots of photos. The Great Lakes are so large they also remind me of times I lived in Florida, Texas, and California and spent time on the ocean. This painting takes me back to the grit of the sand, the heat of the day, and the breeze off the water...refreshing.
